Validation of Point Scatterer Phase Statistics in Multi-pass Insar

چکیده
In radar images, point scatterers provide reflections that can often be attributed to a single physical object, usually smaller than the resolution cell size. Stable point scatterers with high backscatter coefficients through time (mainly ’man-made features’) are potential targets for InSAR deformation analysis. A-priori knowledge about the observation statistics of InSAR point scatterer measurements is necessary to give an independent quality description of the estimated (deformation) parameters. Using the Signalto-Noise Ratio (SCR) from SAR images an a-priori estimate of the phase variance can be obtained. A controlled corner reflector experiment has been set up with leveling as an independent validation technique. In the period from March 2003 to June 2004 the movements of five corner reflectors in the area near Delft University of Technology have been monitored using leveling and repeat-pass InSAR (ERS-2 and Envisat). Double-difference observations, the first observations that bear interpretable information, are used for comparing the InSAR and leveling measurements. The stochastic model is set up as a variancecovariance matrix, estimating a-posteriori variance factors for the observation groups leveling, ERS-2 and Envisat. From the results it can be concluded that the a-priori phase variance based on SCR for the corner reflectors (σ ∼0.4mm) is significantly overestimated. The estimated a-posteriori InSAR phase standard deviation is 3.1 mm for Envisat and 3.9 mm for ERS-2 (mm, vertical).

Mitigation of Tropospheric Delay on InSAR Interseismic Displacements
One of the major challenges of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technique is the existence of tropospheric effect on the results. The tropospheric effect is due to the changes of atmospheric parameters including temperature, pressure, and humidity between the master and slave images. In this research, two different methods based on spatial-temporal filters and calculation of pha...
متن کاملInSAR Phase Unwrapping by Transforming Sparce Data into a Regular Space
Phase unwrapping is one of the most important parts of InSAR techniques. In order to estimate the grand surface displacements, interferomtric phases modulated between 0 to 2π must be unwrapped. Based on the use of either the conventional method or persistent scatterer (PS), phases will be spread both regularly and irregularly. The phases of PSs can be unwrapped by reducing phases into a regular...

Land subsidence is one of the environmental hazards that has been less well-regarded by human societies due to lower human casualties. However, the earth subsidence causes irreparable damage to the urban areas and adjacent plains over time. In this study, Permanent Scatterer (PS) method has been used to monitor land subsidence in the region in hamadan proviance and its adjacent plains in west o...

a r t i c l e i n f o Multi-temporal interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) is an effective tool to detect long-term seismotectonic motions by reducing the atmospheric artifacts, thereby providing more precise deformation signal. The commonly used approaches such as persistent scatterer InSAR (PSInSAR) and small baseline subset (SBAS) algorithms need to resolve the phase ambiguities i...
